Let's Celebrate for ME!

Apart from today being my baby Benjamin's 1st birthday, I will also like to celebrate a few things for myself on this historical day.

FYI, I decided to separate this post from Ben's birthday post so as not to take away the glory from this post, ehem ehem... ;p Here it goes...

9 months of being a SAHM
I quit my job in June 2009 and today, it will be my 9th month being a stay-at-home mummy.

Yes, being a SAHM does have its sh*tty moments but after considering the pros and cons of being a SAHM versus being at work, I think its pretty clear (to me) that SAHM is the one of the best decision we have ever made (on top of our persistence in natural childbirth, exclusive breastfeeding and homemade baby solids).

Money cannot compare the magical moments you get to spend growing up with your child together. Those memories cannot be bought with any amount of money.

12 months of breastfeeding (of which the first 6 are exclusive breastfeeding btw! :D )
Of course, when Ben turned 6 mths old we started him on solids but other than that, there has NEVER EVER been a speck of formula powder in our house at all. And the fact that for the first 6 months I exclusively breastfed Ben!! I'm really proud of this! :D

21 months without menses
21 months!!! Is that freakish amazing or what?!! And why 21 months?

It goes back to the moment I start conceiving Ben in early June 08, so up until today, it has been 21 months I have not have my menses!

Of course I do dread the moment when it comes back to my life (have heard enough horror stories about how painful the cramps are when it first comes back) but until then, I am just going to stay chill and relax and enjoy this moment!

So that's about the mini celebrations for me today. Thank you for reading this post! :D

I think my youngest was about the same age when I became a SAHM. It was the best 5 years of my life! Unfortunately, I did have to go back to the working world (but it helps that I enjoy my work and am mostly gone on weekends so there is always a parent at home). Enjoy these days...they are pure magic!

I wasn't SAHM for my first one and I missed so many magic moments I still regret. I did how my own business so I could tweek my schedule, but it doesn't compare to being SAHM with my second one. I became SAHM when my first born turned 4.

Congrats on the breastfeeding. I had to stop at 5 months and then 2 months. I wish it would lasted longer.

OK that's a LIFETIME of Congratulations! :) I chose to breastfeed my children also and that in itself is more than a fulltime job. I did not know that the human body could survive with so little sleep...until I had babies. :) And you are SO right...a SAHM is a ton of work but the most rewarding job one could ever have!

P.S. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the quote on your header:

Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs... since the payment is pure love.

Happy Birthday, and a Special Mom Day to you. It was a lot of work!

It is a wonderful time of your life for sure. Every moment is something wonderful. Sometimes when you are in the moment it may not seem like it, but you will come to appreciate all the moments.

Do you miss work or working life or fellow colleagues? Or you don't at all?

I'm still navigating between the 2 roles.
