Farewell Pink Walker...

I hate to say this. It saddens me so to write this post.

I've blogged about how useful the walker is to us, despite being aware of the risks highlighted in many, many baby and parenting websites, we did used the walker and words cannot described how great our appreciation and gratitude is towards the walker.

I'm dedicating this post to our pink walker. (Btw, we have 2 walkers, the other one is in the living room downstairs, a bit bigger size also in the retiring phase)

Anyway, like I said earlier, this post is dedicated to our pink walker. It has served us well for almost 11 months. But, it is really time to say farewell to it. Ben has outgrown it now (Ben's turning 11 mths on 4th Feb) and I've started to retire the pink walker about 3 days ago... (and has been really tired lately... cos Ben is getting really, really mobile nowadays... and he hasn't start walking yet!!!!!!!)

So here it goes....

Dear Pink Walker,

Thank you for coming into our lives, and to Ben's. I still remember Ben started using you when he was only 5 months old.

Yes, you may be a hands-me-down item of a few generations in our family, but you have served us well. You may be pink, but we don't mind. We're not the type of people who have the perception that pink is for girls.

With you, Ben discovered the mirror hidden in daddy's wardrobe and how fascinated he was with the mirror. He still does now by the way.

With you, Ben traveled many places... he learned how to mouthy-task multitask - to grab toys in his hands and mouth while going for more toys and still cruising in you.

With you, Ben did many many wonderful and cheeky little things... which I had also blogged about.

I remembered we even brought you along when we go for our 1st family outing to Melaka! And oh, how Ben checked out all the rooms in our villa while cruising in you!

Then, Ben had his 1st solids in you. I was scared of placing Ben in the high chair so I tested on a lower chair... and what else to use and rely on but good ol' trusted you?

Ben learned to use his sippy cup at 6 months old while sitting inside you.

Just look at the picture of him smiling cheekily when he mastered using the sippy cup!

But the dreaded day and moment has finally arrived... who am I kidding to continue using you when I saw Ben doing this?

He can easily just stand up and slowly lift up his leg and crawl out of you.

We know, when this day arrives, we have to retire you. Ben is no longer safe if we still insist on using you. We're going to put Ben into greater risks if he continues on using you.

So Pink Walker, I am so so sorry... but I promise we will keep you in a nice and comfy place, until the time comes for our second child (I can't promise you when!). But until then, I will keep you posted on Ben's development without you now.

And, don't you worry about our dear little Ben. He is a big boy now. Look at what he did with you no longer around to help him...

Without you, Ben crawls to daddy's wardrobe and opens the door to find the hidden mirror.

Yes, he still remembers where is the mirror and like I said earlier, he is still very fascinated with the mirror.

Btw, look at how tall Ben is now sitting on the floor near the wardrobe, and to think just 6 months ago Ben had to sit in you to check out his reflections in the mirror...

Without you, Ben is now spending his time playing with his toys on the alphabet mats and crawls all around the room and house.

He crawls on the floor, climbs on to the bed, stands by holding on to the bookcase, table edge, chair, etc... he crawls through the bookcase (which I purposely emptied the bottom racks to create a makeshift tunnels for him to play with), he practice his standing and walking using another type of walker.
He's teething now btw, so he mouths whatever things he can stuff into his mouth...

As for feeding, oh dear Pink Walker, don't you worry about it. Ben sits happily in the high chair and waits patiently for his food.

Without you, Ben cannot move around and lets mummy chases after him for his next spoonful of solids ;p

Without you, Ben now learns to move around using another type of walker.

He has to stand and takes slow baby steps as the walker rolls back and forth, depending on Ben's directions.

He's beginning to master using this walker lately. He's also fascinated with the buttons and gadgets on that walker as well...

So, like I said earlier, you don't have to worry about Ben already. He is growing by the day and achieving new milestones every moment.

Don't be sad, Pink Walker... We will never ever forget you or throw you away. I will remind Ben and tell him stories about how you and him used to spend tons and tons of wonderful moments together.

Goodbye, Pink Walker.

Stay well and again, THANK YOU, good friend... from the bottom of our hearts...

My youngest had the BEST time in a contraption like this. We never had any problems with it, but we also didn't have any stairs she could fall down, either. That happened to my nephew-no fun at all! SITS sent me by, and I'm glad they did...

Ha ha! My daughter used a walker, we loved it! It's perfect since they can move around yet are still confined to their little space and can't get into any trouble! Would've used one with my son also but his chunky butt reached the weight limit by the time his was about 5 months old!

Popped in from SITS!

Everytime I have to pack up some baby clothes or a trusted toy my heart breaks a little! They grow up too quickly!
