My DIY Chinese New Year Lantern...

Just a day before Chinese New Year (aka CNY), I was rushing to decorate the house so I was scouting around the Net for some ideas and came up with this:
CHINESE NEW YEAR MINI LANTERN
You will need the following items:
* Red packets (empty of course!!)
* Scissor
* Stapler
* Strips of paper (I recycled from red packets as well)

Firstly, you need to fold the red packet into half, lengthwise preferably. If you fold it horizontally, then you get a short lantern. If you fold it vertically, then you get a tall lantern. So anyway, after folding it, you can start cutting the red packets from the center, make sure you leave some space at the edge of the red packets (around 5mm-1cm). Repeat this by leaving some spaces between each cuts ~ about 5mm. At the end, you get something like this...

Hold both ends of the red packets together and staple one side of the strip to make the lantern handle.

Repeat the same process for the other end of the strip/handle.

You will also need to staple the bottom of the lantern.

You can use your hands to press down the lantern from top, kinda like make it fatter or to expand it a bit.

The end results:

Happy Chinese New Year to all my bloggy friends! Gong Hei Fatt Choy! :D
