What To Do When Your Toddler Does This?

One day as usual, Ben is playing in our room by himself while I was occupied with compiling the documents for hubby's company tax submission. Then I realized for the past few minutes, Ben is quiet. VERY-VERY QUIET.

When kids (especially MINE) are quiet, that's the time you should stop whatever you are doing and check out on them. Then I found Ben near our room's door doing this:
Yeap... my smart boy cleverly make his way up my storage box and is happily investigating and checking out the things mummy hid there (mostly his toys and paper bags). So, as a parent of a VERY adventurous, curious and mischievous toddler, what did I decided to do?

Think... think... think...

What would YOU do if you were in my shoes?

Anyhoooo after split second** decision making... I quickly turned back and grabbed my digital camera of course! In situations like this, it is VERY critical that you record the event. This will later served as a proof to your child when he is all grown up (and denies doing this type of things) that he gave his beloved mum massive heart attacks on daily basis...

So, of course, I went on snapping the pose of him already climbed up on my storage box. He doesn't seem to be bothered with mummy busily taking pictures of his naughtiness, in fact, he even tried to grab a poster I stuck near the wardrobe.
After a while, Ben started to panic. He couldn't get off the box. He dare not jumped down cos he can't see how high he was. So he clings on to where he stood and started crying... I told him if he can cleverly climbs up, he should be able to cleverly make his way down. And I continued snapping pictures. And he cried harder.
I wanted to teach him a lesson, you see. So after a few more seconds and a little bit of nagging, I carried him down. And he went off to continue playing. Boys...

** Btw, please do not think I'm an irresponsible or heartless mother who let her son cried and not take care of him. I of course look at the situation and is confident he won't be doing anything stupid like jumping down and hurting himself (he is definitely not THAT stupid!) that's why I can go on and take these pictures...

You have to have the camera ready at all times. He, he, he! The things that toddlers get into. It is their job to keep mommy busy!

what fabulous photos of that little Ben, LOVE this!! I would have (and have) done the same thing, wait until their in trouble and help out. She now can crawl up onto and back off nearly anything so my heart doesn't race at every moment of silence in the house, lol, I'll just go take a peek around the corner and watch =) what a delightful age!

Hi Mama Hen,
Yup! Camera must be ready all the time! :P

Hello Shelley!
Glad you enjoyed the post! And with a curious kid like mine, I've gotta take things with a pinch of salt and not get too stressed up! :P

Hi BBP,
Thanks for the compliments. Wish the pictures were clearer but I was busy laughing and nagging at the same time, that the camera shook and cause the pictures to blur up slightly.
