Our Room Has Been Burglarized...

One fine day, hubby woke up in the middle of his rare napping session (Its rare cos hubby is seldom at home during daytime cos he is constantly out for business appointments) and thought someone had burglarized our room after seeing all the mess in our room when in fact it was actually caused by his son..

You see, what happened was ever since we put our Pink Walker into its retirement, I've let Ben roam around the room, doing whatever he wants but also keeping a close watch at what he does - just in case he's touching any dangerous things (like the electrical outlet or fan or etc)

Right now... Ben's play room is OUR bedroom. Ben co-sleeps with hubby and myself and spends most of his day time playing in our room which is on the 2nd floor. His daily schedule goes something like this:

0930 - Wakes up to torture mummy & daddy play with mummy & daddy
1000 - Breakfast and continue playing while daddy managed to escape by going out for his business appointments
1230 - Nap time
1400 - Wakes up and continue to torture mummy play
1430 - Snacks and play, play, play!
1630 - Nap time again
1800 - Wakes again to torture play
1830 - Bath time
1930 - Dinner time
2000 - Continue playing downstairs in the living room with MIL (who will be watching TV by then)

Of course, in between those play times, I do slot in some play time with mummy, singing, reading and learning stuff. But most of the time, I'd be watching Ben play by himself (I hope this would lead into him being able to be independent, to spend alone time by himself and not wanting people to accompany him ALL the time)

Just take a look at the trail of mass destruction that is caused by a tiny little monster tot...

Oh I dare not look at the horror!! Looks like a tornado just came through our room!
He even took out those alphabet mats which we laid on the parquet floor to safeguard him in case he falls down. Probably he doesn't like the colors?

We also put a single bed mattress next to our King size mattress on the floor in case Ben crawls over - also a safeguard thing to break his fall... but look at what has become of it?! It's like his obstacle course field...

Currently, when it is near lunch time, I'd bring Ben downstairs to play in the playpen (located in kitchen) so that MIL can help watch after Ben while I have/make my lunch.

So anyway, with Ben making quite a mess in the room since it's practically his playground and me having to clean up after his mess, hubby and I planned to convert one of the spare room on our floor to be his dedicated baby playroom. I'm also getting tired having to see our bedroom in a mess... and I don't think my hubby wanted to suffer another heart attack (OK, OK, I'm exaggerating...) of thinking our room has been burglarized...

We're still planning on how to decorate the playroom so, things are moving pretty slow at the current rate. Currently, we're just thinking of painting over a fresh coat of paint in the room and putting a nice spongy mat on the floor instead of the alphabet mats.

Any ideas you can help in contributing to decorate Ben's playroom?

I think you should pick out a theme for your little one's room...I picked out Winnie the Pooh for my boy (when he was a baby).

That is what my house looks like when I come home from leaving the kids with DH. typically he will nap, and try to get the toddler to nap with him, but little guy will wait till Daddy is sleeping then climb down off the couch and trash the house...

Hey Danielle,
Thanks for dropping by from SITS! Kudos to your DH for still being able to nap when your kids are around. Mine can't cos my boy keeps on crawling, climbing, kneeing, smacking him for playing all the time! :P

Use some black and white with color. The contrast makes for attention grabbing. Glad to have you part of the fun of Friday Follow. Rita @ http://one2try.blogspot.com/
